Pharmacy expansion ceremony

Team leader Karima Aamri gives a thank-you speech and then invites Miley, 3.5, to come forward. She has been practicing at home and is excited to cut the orange ribbon. Applause! The reopening of the remodeled pharmacy is a fact.

Time for a toast. Lidwien Hanff, head of the pharmacy, recalls the importance of the expansion of the pharmacy in the context of Máxima's strategic plan ‘Moving forward together’. The reopening of the pharmacy is the culmination of the renovations that have taken place over the past few months. Employees of the pharmacy and the adjacent outpatient clinics and day care center on the 3rd floor immediately came to take a look and toast.

More prescriptions

Pharmacist Marieke Meijs explains why the renovation was necessary: ‘We now have a third consultation room where we can help two more parents during busy times. The number of medicines delivered by the pharmacy has increased by 10-20% over the past six years. Sometimes parents just want to drop off or return something, and we can help them more quickly. So in order not to increase the waiting time for parents, this expansion of the pharmacy was necessary.’

Workspace

The front-office pharmacy staff has also benefited from the renovation. Team Leader Karima Aamri-Bouzbib: ‘We have more space to work: the prescription preparation island is 1.5 times larger, which makes it more efficient. Three concentration workstations have been created, spaces where people can work undisturbed. For example, to check on treatments or to call parents. We also have more space for storage.’  Marieke Meijs explains: ‘During the phased renovation, we had less and less space at times. That was quite tight. But we have been working with so many people in such a small space for six years now that we were ready for it!’
