Research on proton therapy in adults does not apply to children

Recent posts on social media about the effects of proton therapy in adult patients with a brain tumor do not concern our patients. The studies mentioned were done in adults. Brain tumors in children differ in important ways from those in adults, so the results cannot be compared.

We understand that such messages can be worrying. That is why we always review new information carefully and check right away whether it affects the care and treatment of your child. At this moment, there is no reason to change our treatment.

If you are worried or have questions, please talk to your lead physician. We are always here to help think things through with you.
