Tap water not drinkable until further notice

During a routine inspection of the drinking water in the Utrecht region, the water company Vitens found a bacterium (enterococci). This means that the tap water in the Princess Máxima Center is not safe to drink.

Appointments and treatments at the Máxima Center will continue as planned. However, please make sure that neither you nor your child drinks water directly from the tap while you are at the Máxima Center.

If your child has any symptoms or if you’re worried, please contact us through the usual channels.

Are you coming to the Máxima Center for treatment or work?

Please bring your own coffee, tea, water, or other drinks.

If you want to use water in the Máxima Center, boil it for 3 minutes first before you:
  • drink it
  • use it to prepare food or drinks, such as coffee, tea, lemonade, or washing fruit or vegetables
  • use it for brushing your teeth

Electric kettles are available on all care units. Make sure the water boils for 3 full minutes. To do so, turn the kettle on at least 5 times.

Important to know if you are in the Máxima Center:
  • We are working on a solution for the water supply in the parent–child rooms (OKEs).
  • Coffee machines in the Máxima Center are turned off and cannot be used.
  • You can contact our hosts and hostesses for clean drinking water and other beverages.
  • You do not need to pre-boil water that you use for cooking food.
Showering and handwashing in the Máxima Center

We advise you not to shower your child, to avoid accidental swallowing of water. Children and parents can wash their hands with tap water.

We will keep you informed about further developments on this website.
