Special website about nutrition
The nutrition website of the Princess Máxima Center and the World Cancer Research Fund answers the most frequently asked questions about nutrition during childhood cancer. You’ll also find general tips to help your child with symptoms such as nausea, diarrhoea and reduced appetite. The website features more than 50 recipes suitable for children with cancer.
The importance of good nutrition
Chemotherapy and radiotherapy not only destroy cancer cells but also affect healthy cells. Eating well and choosing healthy foods helps the body rebuild those healthy cells more quickly. Good nutrition also helps your child tolerate treatment better and reduces the risk of infections. It helps maintain the body’s reserves and supports faster wound healing after surgery. In addition, good nutrition gives your child more energy and strength, helping them feel better, both during and after treatment.
