From June 1st, 2018, all children who are being treated for cancer will be treated at the Princess Máxima Center. Children who are under control after the treatment are also very welcome. Parents/children who only come to the hospital for check-ups can coordinate with their pediatric oncologist as to where the best place is for the check-up.
Each child stays in a parent-child room. This is a private room with another room directly connected to it. A maximum of 2 people can sleep in a parent-child room. That can be a parent or a brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother or close friend. Consult with your child's nurse about the possibilities for your specific situation. Brothers, sisters or friends younger than 12 can only stay under the guidance of an adult. In addition to the facilities in the Princess Máxima Center itself, parents and families can also use the nearby Ronald McDonald House.
The expertise of the Princess Máxima Center is of great added value for assessing scans. Scans will therefore in principle be performed and assessed at the Princess Máxima Center.
Besides the Princess Máxima Center, there is a second hospital in your neighborhood that is responsible for part of the care, under the direction of the Princess Máxima Center. This includes less complex care like checking blood levels, chemotherapy outpatient care and admission for fever. In this way, we limit the travel time for you and your child as much as possible.
Each child has only one shared care hospital. The shared care hospital is chosen in consultation with you. On the shared care page, you will find more information.
Emergency line 088 972 92 57
Please only use this telephone number in case of an acute situation. Examples are acute shortness of breath, convulsions, loss of consciousness. You can also use this number with a persistent fever above 38.5 °C.
The Princess Máxima Center and the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital work closely together. In order to combine the expertise in the operating rooms as well as possible, one new surgery complex is being built at the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital for all children from both hospitals.
There are various areas and gardens in and outside our center where your child can sit or play, like the library, teen lounge, construction site and sports garden. Read more about this on the facilities page. Various bedside activities are also organized for children. You will be informed about this by the pedagogical staff.
