The school

The Princess Máxima Center wants children, despite their illness, to be able to develop as normal as possible in all areas and supports and stimulates them in doing so. We call this development-oriented care. School plays an important role in the development of children. For a sick child it is important, but also nice, if school can continue as normal as possible. Our Educational Facility (EV) helps with this.

After your child's diagnosis, an EV counselor will contact you and, after permission, also the home school. The counselor looks together with the child, parents and the home school how the education, despite the treatment, can continue as well as possible and how the child can keep in touch with the classroom. Throughout treatment, the counselor keeps in touch with the home school.

During the admissions at the Máxima Center, the consultant teach in the classroom or the room of the child.

Lessons in the classrooms
In principle, children come to the classroom. Children coming for check-ups or day treatment are also welcome. Do ask the nurse if your child can go to the classroom.

Preschoolers work with the developmental materials provided in the classroom. Children from grade 3 through high school use learning materials that they bring themselves.

The classrooms are on the first floor, to the left of Muziekids. The secondary classroom is before the swinging door, the classrooms for group 1/2 and group 3 to 8 are after the swinging door.

Classrooms are open on school days from 10:00-12:00 (primary and secondary) and from 13:00-14:00 (primary only).

Lessons in the room
When your child cannot or should not leave the room, such as because they have a fever or are in isolation, the consultant will come by to teach there.
