Tips for dealing with changes at home

When a child is sick, the family focuses all its attention on that child. Parents automatically pay less attention to the brothers and sisters. Sometimes fun trips are canceled, or you are given more chores at home.
  • If your parents pay less attention to you, it doesn't mean they don't think about you or love you any less. A sick brother or sister needs the help of the whole family, including you.
  • You can ask your parents to do something together with you from time to time, even if it's just a small thing.
  • Are you given many chores at home? Sit down with your parents and make a list of things you can do and want to do. Make sure there are not too many things on the list, so that you also have time for yourself and your homework, for instance.
