New animated video: Connecting your VIT

At the Princess Máxima Center, we believe that good preparation for a medical examination or treatment is very important. For this reason, we have created an animated video especially for children when a VIT (fully implantable delivery system) will be connected, also known as a port-a-cath.

A VIT is a box that is placed under the skin of the chest. A tube is connected to it to draw blood and deliver medicine or fluids. The animated video explains what happens when a VIT is connected. Your child's nurse specialist or child life specialist will give you all the information you need when your child gets a VIT, and this animated video fits right in.
