Immunotherapy

Immunotherapy strengthens the immune system so that it can recognize and destroy cancer cells. The immune system is our defense system: it protects the body against invaders that can cause illness, such as bacteria and viruses. The immune system also recognizes and destroys cancer cells.

Administration

The nurse administers the immunotherapy via the portacath, the line or a drip.

Supportive care

Immunotherapy has side effects such as pain, constipation, allergic reactions, fluid retention, confusion, or fever. That is why your child receives supportive care in the form of pain relief and other medicines.

Each form of immunotherapy has its own side effects. These side effects are listed on the Medicine Cards in the Diary Agenda.
